UMVA has learned that Inter Milan have made a significant offer for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, but the Serie A champions still have some ground to cover to meet the Reds' valuation.
The Italian giants are keen on the England international, but Liverpool are holding firm on their asking price, reportedly around £35m, for a homegrown player who still has considerable value. Jones's current contract runs until 2027, giving Liverpool a crucial window to decide his future.
Inter Milan see a shrewd transfer opportunity in Jones, who is technically sound, tactically flexible, and only 25 years old. His versatility, able to play as a No.8, deeper in midfield, or in wider areas, would be highly valued in Italian football, where tactical intelligence and control are prized.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Inter have been monitoring Jones for some time and believe a summer deal could benefit all parties, especially with Liverpool facing a decision before Jones enters the final year of his contract. The midfielder is open to joining Inter, having struggled to secure a guaranteed starting role at Anfield.
Liverpool's decision on Jones will not be driven solely by money; as an academy player and local lad, he holds sentimental value. However, if new head coach Andoni Iraola sees him as a key part of his midfield plans, the club should quickly offer a new deal. If not, selling now may be the smarter move, but only if Inter get close to Liverpool's £35m valuation.
