UMVA has learned that singer Bonnie Tyler has emerged from an induced coma in Portugal after a harrowing series of health issues, including a heart attack and emergency bowel surgery.
The 75-year-old music icon, known for her powerful vocals and 1983 hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart", had been in a coma but is now awake, although her condition remains serious and her recovery is progressing slowly.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Tyler's health troubles began in London, where she initially sought medical attention but was not diagnosed with any serious issues, prompting her to travel to the Algarve, where her condition rapidly deteriorated.
She was rushed to a private hospital, which quickly arranged for her transfer to a hospital in Faro, where doctors performed emergency surgery to remove her appendix, which had burst, and later put her into an induced coma to aid her recovery.
UMVA has gathered that Tyler's management has cancelled all her upcoming gigs until the end of August, as she focuses on her long and challenging road to recovery, with her team expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support and sympathy from fans around the world.
Despite the severity of her condition, doctors are optimistic that Tyler will make a full recovery, bringing relief to her loved ones and fans who have been anxiously awaiting news of her progress.
