The codenames B582 and B632 are said to represent the updated versions of the standard and Pro Apple Pencils, respectively. While the codenames are not particularly revealing, they do suggest that the sources have access to confidential information.
Speculation about possible changes to the battery setup in the new Pencils is limited. The European Union will introduce regulations next year requiring easier-to-remove and replace batteries in consumer tech products, which may lead to new battery systems being implemented in the Pencils.
The current Apple Pencils are 1st-gen models, with the standard model released in 2023 and the Pro version in 2024. The last Apple Pencil update was the 2nd-gen model in 2018, which introduced a flat edge for magnetic charging and a tap-sensitive body.
Other possibilities for the new Pencils include a redesign or new color finishes, although Apple has maintained the same general design since the 2nd-gen model arrived in 2018.
