UMVA has learned that Londoners are bracing themselves for a significant disruption to their daily commute as Tube strikes begin, causing widespread travel chaos.
The first of two days of strikes kicked off just after midnight and is expected to run through to 11.59pm tonight, with all Tube lines affected, some suspended or part suspended, and others experiencing severe delays.
Travelers faced a tough morning, with very few services running before 6.30am, and few expected to operate after 9pm, forcing many to seek alternative modes of transportation or adjust their plans accordingly.
However, not all services are impacted, as the Elizabeth Line, London Overground lines, DLR, and Tram are running as normal, although they are expected to be extremely busy, as are bus routes and roads.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the strikes are a result of failed negotiations between the Rail, Maritime and Transport union and transport authorities, with the union expressing concerns about the impact of longer working hours on its drivers.
The transport authority described the strikes as 'bitterly disappointing' but stated that it would aim to run at least half of Tube services, offering some relief to travelers, although the situation remains uncertain.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that a second day of strikes is scheduled for Thursday, threatening further disruption to the city's transportation network and daily life.
The last-minute talks that failed to yield an agreement have left commuters facing another day of travel chaos, with many worried about the impact on their work, school, and personal lives.
