DEMOCRATS IN FREEFALL: Voters Abandon Ship!

DEMOCRATS IN FREEFALL: Voters Abandon Ship!

A growing rift is tearing through the Democratic party, and it’s not a quiet disagreement. Political analyst Joe Concha recently highlighted a disturbing trend: a disconnect between the party’s leadership and its own base, suggesting a potential crisis of relevance heading into 2028.

The core of the problem, according to Concha, lies with the rise of a more progressive, “woke” wing of the party. These policies, while appealing to a specific segment, are actively alienating a broad swath of voters – and even fellow Democrats – particularly in crucial swing states.

Consider the issue of competitive sports. The embrace of policies allowing transgender athletes to compete against biological women, or the push for completely open borders, are examples Concha cites as electoral liabilities. These positions simply don’t resonate with the majority of Americans.

Recent polling data confirms this growing unease. A CNN poll revealed a startling lack of confidence among Democrats regarding their party’s priorities. The majority surveyed expressed unfavorable views, signaling a deep-seated dissatisfaction within the ranks.

The disconnect extends to fundamental issues of civic responsibility. An overwhelming 80% of Americans, including over 70% of Democrats, support voter ID laws and proof of citizenship. Yet, the party continues to resist these measures, instead prioritizing policies perceived as favoring undocumented individuals.

Concha argues Democrats are consistently choosing to champion positions on the extreme fringes of public opinion. They are fighting fiercely for the 20% or 15% when 80% or 85% of the country agrees on something else entirely.

This pattern of unpopular stances paints a picture of a party increasingly out of touch with the concerns of everyday Americans. It’s a dangerous position, suggesting a profound “tone deafness” to the prevailing sentiments of the electorate at a critical juncture in the nation’s history.

The implications for potential 2028 contenders like Governor Gavin Newsom and Vice President Kamala Harris are significant. Concha suggests these candidates, embracing these divisive policies, face an uphill battle to win over the voters needed to secure the presidency.
