Chet Hanks, son of the acclaimed actor, has embraced a surprisingly unconventional lifestyle change. He’s traded the glitz of Los Angeles for a decidedly different scene: a trailer park in Tennessee.
The 35-year-old revealed his new living arrangement while appearing on a late-night talk show, explaining the move was driven by a desire for simplicity and a focus on his burgeoning music career. He didn’t want to repeat the cycle of furnishing another apartment after recently investing in a Los Angeles condo.
The inspiration struck during a recent road trip, where he experienced the freedom of living in an Airstream trailer. He quickly realized he preferred the self-contained nature of that lifestyle, a stark contrast to the transient existence of hotels and Airbnbs.
While he hasn’t quite reached Airstream luxury yet, Chet is happily settled into a Jayco Eagle trailer. It’s equipped with all the necessities, including a fully functional kitchen and, to his delight, a walk-in shower.
He described the reality of trailer park life as a pleasant surprise, shattering preconceived notions. He’s notably younger than his neighbors, estimating he’s 30 or 40 years their junior, and found the community to be comprised largely of retirees.
Despite the outdoor setting, Chet admits his daily routine hasn’t drastically altered. He enjoys the occasional fire pit, but mostly finds himself relaxing indoors, indulging in his favorite shows.
This shift coincides with Chet’s dedication to his music duo, Something Out West, alongside Drew Arthur. They released their debut EP, “Leaving Hollywood,” last year – a title that now resonates with a newfound personal meaning.
Their music video for the single “You Better Run” even featured a playful cameo from his father, Tom Hanks, a charming nod to the iconic film “Forrest Gump,” showcasing a supportive family dynamic.
