Platner, a 41-year-old Marine veteran turned radical leftist, has been embroiled in controversy before, notably for a tattoo resembling the infamous Nazi SS Totenkopf skull and crossbones. The newly revealed Reddit posts have only intensified worries about his temperament and ability to lead.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Platner made crude sexual remarks and mocked rural white people on Reddit, also referring to himself as a communist and Jesus as a “zombie.” These comments have sparked outrage and raised questions about his judgment and character.
One of the most disturbing Reddit threads uncovered revolves around Platner's comments toward a fellow American military brother, Pfc. Ted Daniels, who was wounded and almost killed in action. Platner's remarks have left many questioning his temperament and capacity for empathy.
In a shocking display of callousness, Platner posted on Reddit in June 2019, mocking a viral video from Pfc. Daniels' helmet cam during a clash with Taliban fighters in 2012. Daniels earned a Purple Heart for his injuries after being shot four times. Platner's comments were laced with profanity and contempt, describing Daniels as a “dumb motherf-----” who “didn’t deserve to live.”
However, what Platner failed to mention was that Pfc. Daniels, a 37-year-old father of two, had deliberately stepped into the open to draw Taliban fire away from his squad, putting his own life at risk to protect his comrades. This heroic act earned Daniels a Purple Heart, but Platner's response was to ridicule and demean him.
