U.S. Central Command confirmed that recent Iranian attacks have resulted in multiple U.S. service‑member casualties in the region.
In northern Iraq, a service member was killed on July 18 while conducting a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance recovered from a downed Iranian one‑way attack drone. A second service member sustained a minor injury during the same operation and is receiving medical treatment.
Earlier, on July 17, an Iranian strike on a Jordanian base claimed the lives of two U.S. service members and left a third missing. A thorough search later uncovered unidentified remains believed to belong to the missing service member, and forensic analysis is underway.

The identities of the fallen and missing personnel have not been released as officials prioritize notifying families.
Following the attacks, U.S. forces launched additional strikes against Iranian targets later Saturday, marking an escalation in regional hostilities.
