The creator of the comedy series Overcompensating confirmed that key casting changes will affect the upcoming second season due to conflicting production schedules.
Robbie GK, who played the character Riley in three episodes of the first season, will not reprise his role after committing to film the second season of the drama Heated Rivalry.
Efforts were made to bring Riley back, but the actor’s obligations, along with those of other cast members, made it impossible. The creator indicated that a future appearance remains a possibility.
Similarly, actor Hudson Williams, who was under consideration for a new role, is unavailable because his schedule is occupied with other projects.
Viewers expressed disappointment online, noting the loss of both performers and voicing hope that they might return in later installments.
Season two is scheduled for release in September 2025, following the first season’s debut in May of the same year.
The new episodes continue the story after the protagonist, Benny, is unintentionally outed as gay in front of his family.
Production began in April 2026 and will feature guest appearances by Tom Francis, AnnaSophia Robb and Aisha Dee, while a fan‑favorite supporting character has been elevated to series regular.
In addition to his existing role, the creator will portray a second character this season and hinted at a darker, more sinister storyline ahead.
