The FBI has reportedly fired two intelligence analysts who refused to participate in the bureau's investigation into Georgia's 2020 presidential election. The analysts, a husband and wife based in Atlanta, told colleagues they did not believe the investigation was justified and declined to work on the case.
The pair were escorted from the FBI office after refusing the assignment. While the FBI did not confirm the firings, they defended their decision, stating that every employee is expected to uphold the bureau's mission and adhere to its standards.
The FBI has assigned 260 investigative analysts to assist with its ongoing investigation into alleged fraud in Fulton County, Georgia, during the 2020 presidential election. The analysts were tasked with completing approximately 708 records checks by July 17th.
The investigation is a priority for FBI leadership, with overtime, including weekends and holidays, authorized to complete the review. The specific records under review have not been disclosed.
The bureau maintains that it will always investigate credible allegations related to federal elections. Any deviation from this mission and standards will not be tolerated, according to an FBI spokesperson.
