He claimed that Iranian forces are being decimated and dismissed the reporter’s news outlet as “fake,” suggesting the public is misinformed.
The reporter asked whether the United States had a plan to end the conflict, prompting Trump to question how she could claim knowledge of any signs of Iranian restraint.
She replied that Iranian attacks continue to target allies and result in American casualties, a point that intensified the confrontation.
Trump argued that Iranian officials are desperate to negotiate but have not yet indicated readiness for meaningful talks, and he declined to disclose any additional details.
The exchange occurred as Trump met Lebanese President Joseph Aoun for bilateral discussions focused on Lebanon’s stability and the ceasefire in its southern region.
Aoun’s office indicated that the talks would address Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territories, the extension of Lebanese state authority, and broader security concerns.
Since early March, at least 33 Lebanese soldiers have been killed amid Israel’s expanded operations in the south.
Lebanese forces have begun replacing Israeli troops in designated pilot zones, although Israel has stated it will not withdraw until Hezbollah is disarmed.
Trump said he would consider steps to pressure Israel to complete its withdrawal from the pilot zones.
Meanwhile, U.S. forces have carried out airstrikes against Iranian military sites for ten consecutive nights following Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and fire on U.S. bases in Jordan.
