The tipper truck carrying a man and four children exploded into flames in rural West Yorkshire, causing serious and life-threatening burns to the victims trapped inside.
Footage from the scene appears to show the charred wreckage of a tipper truck, with the cab destroyed by the flames. The front of the truck, where the engine was located, has been gutted. An investigation has been launched.
Emergency services attended the scene and found that five people in the vehicle, four children and a man, had suffered serious burns. All of them were taken to hospital for treatment. The man's injuries are believed to be life-threatening, as are one of the children's. The other children have injuries that are believed to be life-changing.
Enquiries are ongoing into the incident, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. The police are working to determine the cause of the explosion.
A number of ambulance resources were dispatched to the scene, including four ambulances and the air ambulance, and five patients were conveyed to hospital. The patients were treated for their injuries and are receiving ongoing care.
