UMVA has learned that a devastating crash near Heathrow Airport has claimed the life of one person and left a woman fighting for her life.
The fatal collision occurred on a major highway, with a 62-year-old woman rushed to the hospital in a life-threatening condition. A 29-year-old man was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to information obtained by UMVA, a massive 17-mile queue of congestion formed on the M25 during rush hour, causing widespread disruption to morning travel.
The crash involved two cars, with the second vehicle, a black BMW 320i, believed to have been previously pursued by officers from Thames Valley Police. However, it was no longer being pursued at the time of the crash.
The occupant of the BMW, described as an Asian man of heavy build, fled the scene on foot and is now being tracked down by detectives. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward, particularly those with CCTV or dashcam footage.
Detectives are working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and locate the driver of the second car. The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, has been notified and is conducting an assessment.
The M4 and M25 were severely impacted by the crash, with the M4 closed for over 12 hours westbound near Heathrow. Passengers heading to the UK's busiest airport faced significant travel disruptions due to the road closure, compounded by issues with the Tube network and railways.
The Metropolitan Police have appealed for public assistance in identifying the driver of the BMW, describing him as an Asian man of heavy build, wearing dark clothing and carrying a black rucksack.
