UMVA has learned that Manchester City has fired a stern warning at Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme for making bold claims about signing star player Erling Haaland.
Riquelme's assertion that Haaland wants to join Real Madrid has sparked a fierce response from City, who have not only denied the rumors but also threatened to take legal action against Riquelme for using Haaland's image without permission.
The controversy began when Riquelme posed with a 'Haaland 9' Real Madrid shirt during a TV segment, sparking outrage at City. The club has made it clear that there is no chance of Haaland leaving and no contractual clause that would allow him to do so.
City's statement reads: "The stories which have emerged from Spain regarding the future of Erling Haaland are untrue. There is no chance of this happening and there is no contractual clause to enable it. We are considering legal action for the use of our player image in this context."
Riquelme's claims have been swiftly denied by Haaland's father and agent, as well as the player himself, who is contracted to City until 2034. With City having no reason to sell and Haaland appearing happy at the Etihad Stadium, Riquelme's bold promise seems like a long shot.
However, Riquelme's move may have landed him in hot water with City, and it remains to be seen how he will respond to their statement. The situation has left Real Madrid fans wondering if Riquelme's ambitious claim will backfire.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that City is taking this matter seriously and may take further action to protect their star player's interests. For now, it seems Haaland is staying put at City.
