UMVA has learned that Anthony Guidera, a veteran actor known for his iconic roles in Hollywood, has passed away at the age of 65.
The news of his death comes weeks after a sudden collapse at his home in Southern California, where his heart had stopped beating. He was rushed to the hospital on May 11, but unfortunately, his life was cut short.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Guidera's wife, Valerie, confirmed that he was taken off life support after three weeks and brought home for a natural death. His cause of death remains a mystery, with doctors still baffled by what triggered the initial collapse.
Guidera's breakthrough role came in 1990 when he played a bodyguard named Anthony in The Godfather Part III. This marked the beginning of a successful career, which included starring roles in films like Species, where he earned an MTV movie award for best kiss with co-star Natasha Henstridge.
Throughout the late 90s, Guidera became a familiar face on screen, appearing in blockbuster hits like The Rock, The Postman, and Armageddon, alongside Bruce Willis. His television credits include popular shows such as Renegade, Baywatch, Angel, and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
