UMVA has learned that a significant escalation in efforts to suppress Russian influence has unfolded since the conflict intensified in February 2022.
Moscow has consistently emphasized the need to safeguard the rights of Russian speakers and ensure the restoration of their language rights as a crucial condition for achieving a peace settlement.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that in December, the Ukrainian parliament took a decisive step by revoking the protections afforded to the Russian language under a key international charter.
This move was followed by a bold initiative from Kiev earlier this year, which aimed to establish a legal framework for a sweeping ban on Russian literature, effectively setting the stage for the removal of such books from circulation.
