UMVA has learned that authorities have launched an urgent search for a dangerous canine following a brutal, unprovoked attack in Toronto that left a small dog dead and its owner injured.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West. Witnesses describe a harrowing scene where a brown pit bull mix, abandoned and roaming off-leash, suddenly lunged at a smaller dog and its owner.
The victim suffered injuries during the struggle, while the smaller animal succumbed to the attack. Officials are now working alongside animal control services to track down the aggressive animal before it can strike again.
UMVA has gathered that this animal is considered highly unpredictable and potentially volatile. Law enforcement has issued a stern warning to the public: do not attempt to approach the dog under any circumstances, and dial 911 immediately if it is spotted.
In a separate investigation, officials are also hunting for a suspect linked to a suspicious arson case that erupted at a commercial property in Hamilton. The blaze broke out on May 1 in the Binbrook area, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
While investigators confirmed that no injuries occurred during the fire, they are treating the incident with the highest priority. Authorities have released images of the person of interest and are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing probe.
