Trans Big Brother contestant’s mum shares how proud she is of him following misgendering incident

Much-lovedBig Brothercontestant Zelah’s mum has shared how proud she is following a recent, shocking misgendering incident that took place in the house.

On 7 October, PR worker Caroline asked personal trainerZelah, who is a trans man, what he would if do if he “had a c**k”.She then went on to misgender Zelahas well as stating, “well, you haven’t got a willy, have you?” The incident resulted in Caroline beinghit with a formal warning

Zelah’s mum, Maya Glasson, has now spoke out in support of her son, who is one of the public’s favourite housemates according tobetting odds.

‘He’s already won’

Speaking toYour Local Guardian, she said: “To us, he’s always been a winner because of the way he conducts himself.

“I’m just very proud that other people can see that.

“Because of opening up dialogues like this and conducting himself so graciously, for us, he’s already won.”

Upon entering the house, Zelah attempted to slowly come out as a trans man to his housemates, but was“accidentally outed” by fellow housemate Jenny.

Glasson previously told Your Local Guardian: “What you see in the house really shows the hidden depths of his character and his personality.

“He’s not just a great representation for the trans community; he represents qualities that transcend gender.

“Sometimes those who shout loudest aren’t necessarily the ones that are most worthy of being heard, and he’s showing that in such a thoughtful way.”

Caroline’s warning over her remarks to Zelah came a day aheadofBig Brotherhousemate George being removed from the house“following repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour”.

The 23-year-old parish councillor was issued several other warnings for unacceptable language during his time in the house, but the content of what he said was not aired due to British broadcasting regulations.

George has broken his silence on his exit from the house, according to The Sun, dubbing himself a “flag bearer of freedom of speech”.
