A community is reeling after the tragic loss of a young child in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The heartbreaking discovery followed a desperate, hours-long search that mobilized emergency services and gripped the local area with fear.

The alarm was raised Monday morning, just before 9:50 am, when reports surfaced that a child had wandered away from a group in the Skellow area. Panic quickly set in as family and friends began their own frantic search, knowing every second was critical.

Police responded immediately, launching a comprehensive operation that included officers on the ground, police drones scanning from above, and the deployment of a police aircraft. The search focused on the surrounding landscape, a race against time to find the missing child.

The police helicopter made the usual decision to land on Owston Hall Golf Course after spotting the lifeless body of the missing child in a large pond. The Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene. Local reports say the young child had become separated from a group after wandered off. And eventually spotted some distance away unresponsive in the pond. Despite efforts by emergency services, including the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, the child was pronounced dead at the scene. The family has been informed and is receiving support from officers. South Yorkshire police said: Yesterday, Monday 30 March, officers responded to the death of a child in Doncaster. At 9.50am to a report a child had gone missing in the Skellow area of the city. Officers and additional resources including police drones and the police aircraft were deployed. Following an extensive search, the child was located in a pond on Owston Hall golf course. Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services colleagues, they were pronounced deceased. The child's family has been informed and is being supported by our officers. The search ultimately led to Owston Hall golf course, where the child was found in a pond. Despite the swift response and the tireless efforts of paramedics and other emergency personnel, they were unable to revive the child.
