Hensall’s bad dog that went on a tear through the tiny Bluewater village has been found and quarantined.
Ontario Provincial Police in Huron County said the dog, described as a “pit bull” type, had been on the lam since Friday after it attacked a pedestrian in the village that’s located 60 kilometres north of London.
The dog continued to be aggressive when police arrived at about 1 p.m. to investigate, so much so that one of the officers took a shot at it with their gun, police said.
The canine bounded south toward Bluewater Coast elementary school on York Street, prompting police to alert the school to keep the students indoors until the suspect pooch had been dealt with, police said.
The injured pedestrian was taken to hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The dog, mostly white with black patches and weighing in at about 54 kilograms (120 pounds), has “a history of aggressive behaviour,” and was “a threat to public safety,” police said.

It was last seen Friday running through a farm field toward a wooded area west of London Road, police said.
However, the dog was later found in the community and taken to a local veterinary clinic for quarantine.
“The dog was not injured and its fate will be determined later,” police officials said in a statement.
Both the OPP and Municipality of Bluewater bylaw enforcement officers are involved in the investigation and charges are pending against the dog’s owner, police said.
