
Meat Feast lovers are in mourning after 68 Pizza Huts – and their never-ending buffets – are closing after a franchisee announced it was going into administration.
The chain, which first arrived on British shores in 1973, serves three million Brits every month and previously raised concern around increasing costs after tax rises in November 2024.
Pizza Hut boosted salesby marketing distinct products such as a 2,880 calorie Cheeseburger stuffed crust pizza and The Edge – a 90s pizza with no crust at all, alongside an unlimited ice cream factory for guests.
But the American giant announced on Monday more than68 dine-in restaurants and 11 delivery outlets, operated by DC London Pie Ltd, are closing, leaving 1,210 people jobless.
Almost 1,300 jobs have been saved after American hospitality company Yum! Brands bought the UK restaurant operation.

Matt Callaghan, joint administrator, said: ‘This transaction provides a stable platform for one of the UK’s best-known dine-in brands, securing the continuation of 64 Pizza Hut sites and importantly preserves 1,276 jobs.
‘The joint administrators will continue to work with employees who have unfortunately been made redundant, to ensure they get the support needed.’

In a statement, Pizza Hut said: ‘We announce the acquisition of the Pizza Hut dine-in operations through a pre-packaged administration, after FTI was announced today as administrators of DCLondonPie Limited, a franchisee of Pizza Hut dine-in restaurants.’
Yum! Brands already owns the global Pizza Hut business.
Nicolas Burquier, Managing Director International Operating Markets, said: ‘This targeted acquisition aims to safeguard our guest experience and protect jobs where possible. Our immediate priority is operational continuity at the acquired locations and supporting colleagues through the transition.’
DC London Pie, the firm running Pizza Hut’s restaurants in the UK, appointed administrators on Monday.
