In a surprise turn for the Beckham family’s youngest son,Cruz Beckhamhas dropped a provocative new single that’s already turning heads for its explicit content.

The 20-year-old’s latest track, Optics, dives deep into themes of sex, drugs, and hedonism, making it clear that he’s intent on declaring to the world that he’s all grown up.

Cruz — brother ofBrooklyn, 26,Romeo, 23, and Harper, 14 — opens the song with the eyebrow-raising line: ‘Take a thousand selfies in your bed while I trip in mine / I love me some mushrooms and good head and an erotic 69.’

The chorus is equally likely to make listeners clutch their pearls: ‘Stay high fashion, no comedown, no crashing / But you wanna know how it looks, I wanna know how it feels.’

The track, reportedly inspired by hisrelationship with 30-year-old Jackie Apostel, who also worked on the album’s visuals and design, signals a new, more mature era for Cruz.

While Optics leans heavily into shock value, Cruz’s second release from the album, Lick The Toad, takes a more whimsical route.

Billed as a trippy ode to nature, it swaps sexual provocation for psychedelic metaphor: ‘Let me take a lick of you, mother nature, imma take a lick / Let me take a hit of you, mother nature, imma take a hit.’

Cruz has been testing his material at intimate gigs across London, including a performance at The George Tavern in East London — a gritty venue that’s hosted everyone from Amy Winehouse to Kate Nash.

His set included Optics, Caroline, For Your Love, and Lick The Toad, drawing a curious mix of industry insiders and die-hard Beckham family followers.

The emerging musician’s debut album, which also features songs titled Waste Your Pain, John Lennon, Tie Don’t Fit, Yeah Yeah Yeah, and For Your Love, showcases a surprising range of sounds.

It also features contributions from Luke Pritchard of The Kooks, who helped Cruz refine his songwriting.

Cruz’s first-ever release was the charity single If Every Day Was Christmas in 2016. More recently, his 2024 track For Ya Love drew viral comparisons toOasis.

Cruz’s new music comes amid continued rumours of fallouts in the Beckham family that have been circulating ever since Brooklyn married Nicola Peltz, 30, three years ago.

Speculation has mounted over the past few months after the eldest Beckham child was absent from David’s 50th birthday bash.

David and Victoria, 51, were also nowhere to be seen at Brooklyn’s vow renewal ceremony in August, and now the release of Victoria’s new documentary has sparked even more questions.

The family has largely maintained a tight-lipped on mutterings of an ongoing feud, despite cryptic social media posts from the children. As expected, Brooklyn has not publicly congratulated his brother on his new music release.

With Optics, Cruz Beckham seems determined to shake off any ‘nepo baby’ tag – the same one that haslong haunted Brooklyn.

Whether the explicit lyrics mark genuine artistic growth or a calculated bid for attention, one thing is clear: the youngest Beckham wants everyone to know he’s all grown up.
