Inter Milangoalkeeper Josep Martinez was involved in a car accident which left an 81-year-old man dead, according to reports inItaly.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Fenegro as the Spaniard was driving to training shortly before 10am.
Reports suggest that the elderly man’s motorised wheelchair veered into the path of Martinez’s car, possibly due to him suffering a medical emergency.
The goalkeeper reportedly attempted to administer first aid and an ambulance and other emergency services arrived but the man was confirmed dead at the scene.
Martinez was not harmed physically in the incident but is reportedly badly shaken.

The Carabinieri – Italian police – are investigating the incident, with the footballer cooperating with those investigations.
InterMilanmanager Christian Chivu was due to hold a press conference at 2pm today ahead of a Serie A game against Fiorentina, but that has been cancelled.
Martinez is a Spain international who is second-choice goalkeeper at Inter behind Yann Sommer.
He has previously played for Las Palmas,RBLeipzig and Genoa, after spending time in the youth system atBarcelona.
The stopper won his one and only Spain cap in 2021 againstLithuania.
