Allison Mack: From Cult Captive to Neo-Nazi Wife?!

Allison Mack: From Cult Captive to Neo-Nazi Wife?!

Allison Mack, once the beloved Chloe Sullivan from the television seriesSmallville, has revealed a new chapter in her life – marriage to a man with a profoundly different past.

Five months ago, in a quiet Los Angeles ceremony steeped in Jewish tradition, Mack wed Frank Meeink, a former neo-Nazi. The union marks a startling turn for the actress, who herself recently emerged from a harrowing experience with the NXIVM sex cult.

Mack’s journey back to freedom was hard-won. Arrested in 2018 and ultimately sentenced to three years in prison for her role in the NXIVM scandal, she served 21 months before her release in July 2023. The weight of her past actions and the subsequent legal battles left an indelible mark.

Meeink’s story is equally compelling, though rooted in a different kind of darkness. He spent years entrenched in the American neo-Nazi movement, a life detailed in his 2010 autobiography,Autobiography of a Recovering Skinhead. The book chronicles his descent into hatred and his eventual, difficult escape.

Their meeting, as Mack recounted on her podcast, “Allison After NXIVM,” was unexpectedly ordinary. A chance encounter while walking her dog led to a connection with the “attractive, heavily tattooed” man who carried the weight of his past openly.

In a remarkable display of vulnerability, Mack shared the full extent of her involvement with NXIVM on their first date. She then bravely asked Meeink if her history would be a barrier to any potential relationship.

His response was startlingly empathetic. Meeink, having confronted his own demons, offered a profound perspective: “I’m a former neo-Nazi who used to kidnap people. Do you think I have any room to judge you?” He offered acceptance, not condemnation.

Meeink’s transformation began during a previous prison sentence in the 1990s, where he renounced his racist ideology. He now dedicates his life to combating hate, working as a public speaker and civil rights activist. He even testified before a House subcommittee on white supremacy in policing.

He speaks with authority on the powerful grip of extremist ideologies, explaining that these groups often provide a dangerous sense of validation, making escape incredibly difficult. His work centers on understanding the forces that draw people into these worlds and helping them find a path out.

This unlikely couple’s story is a testament to the possibility of redemption and the power of empathy. It’s a narrative built on shared experiences of being trapped within destructive systems and the courage required to forge a new path forward.
