The sun-drenched Costa del Sol became the backdrop for a terrifying ordeal for television presenter Jasmine Harman and her husband, Jon Boast. While filming their renovation show, a sharp pain gripped Jon’s chest, halting production and triggering a frantic rush to the hospital.
The couple had embarked on a dream – transforming a dilapidated 1980s villa in Spain into a vibrant family home. But the project quickly took a harrowing turn as Jon battled persistent chest pains while working alongside the builders. Jasmine’s initial fear, a chilling echo of past losses, was that this could be a heart attack.
That fear proved tragically accurate. From his hospital bed, Jon revealed he had indeed suffered a ‘mild’ heart attack. The news resonated deeply, especially considering the recent and heartbreaking loss of Jasmine’s colleague, Jonnie Irwin, to cancer, and the sudden death of her sister-in-law years prior.
Now, back home and recovering, Jon is under close medical supervision, undergoing regular health monitoring and taking medication. Jasmine, reflecting on the ordeal, expressed a surprising sense of gratitude – grateful that the heart attack was mild and that her husband is on the path to recovery.
The health scare wasn’t an isolated incident. Jon had recently broken his leg playing padel, followed by a bout of thrombosis. Looking back, Jasmine admits she’s unsure how they navigated the combined challenges, acknowledging the immense strain on both of them.
This experience, however, has brought an unexpected shift in perspective. Jasmine now embraces a newfound resilience, learning to relinquish control and focus on what truly matters. The renovation, and the health crisis it encompassed, has taught her to appreciate the present and not sweat the small stuff.
The couple, who permanently relocated to Spain with their two children, Albion and Joy, are now focused on building their future, forever changed by the fragility of life and the strength of their bond.
