ELDERLY VICTIM LEFT FOR DEAD: Monster on the Loose!

ELDERLY VICTIM LEFT FOR DEAD: Monster on the Loose!

The quiet routine of a local shop visit shattered for Lyndon Griffiths when confronted by Ashley Morris. A simple act of parking his car became the prelude to a terrifying ordeal, initiated with a chilling demand: “Smile now.”

What followed was a brutal and unprovoked assault, described by police as vicious. When Lyndon questioned the demand, Morris unleashed a flurry of punches, knocking the pensioner to the ground and relentlessly attacking his head and face.

The assault didn’t end with the initial barrage. Morris continued his attack, repeatedly kicking Lyndon while he lay helpless on the pavement. He left the man bleeding and broken, seemingly without a second thought.

Lyndon, battered and covered in blood, somehow managed to pull himself up and stumble to a family member’s house, desperately calling for help. The memory of the attack remained vividly etched in his mind, a horrifying sequence of blows and a final, devastating kick.

In the hospital, Lyndon suffered three seizures, a terrifying cascade of medical emergencies. Doctors revealed he narrowly escaped death, stating that had the seizures occurred before he received medical attention, the outcome would have been tragically different.

The community-minded pensioner, known for his dedication to the local garden, described his attacker as a “psycho,” haunted by the fear of what Morris might do upon his eventual release. He voiced a deep concern for the safety of others.

Retired roofer Lyndon Griffiths had returned from buying frozen peas and chocolate at a shop when he was set upon by "psycho" Ashley Morris. Morris, 39, repeatedly punched and kicked Lyndon in the head leaving him bloodied and bruised and knocking him unconscious. Grandfather Lyndon said Morris had "picked on me for years" and made numerous complaints regarding his neighbour after a series of threats. But after parking his car near his home in Brackla, Bridgend, Lyndon turned around to see Morris who launched an unprovoked attack. South Wales Police described Morris' assault as a "brutal and unprovoked attack". The force said: "The victim had just been to his local shop and parked his car, when Morris, walked up to him and told him to ?smile now?. "When the victim asked what he meant, Morris told him that ?he would make him smile now?, before launching a vicious attack. "Morris punched his victim to the floor, pinned him down and reigned down punches, targeting his head and face. He then kicked him repeatedly while he was still on the floor. "Covered in blood, the victim struggled to his feet after Morris stopped his attack and left the scene. He managed to get to a family member?s house nearby and contacted the police." Morris later admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent and was jailed for 42 months at Cardiff Crown Court. Speaking about his terrifying ordeal, Lyndon said: "I turned around and the next thing I knew I was waking up on the floor with him on top of me pounding my face. "When he got off I thought he had gone so I lifted my head up and 'bang', that's when I felt the boot go in three or four times and I was knocked out again. "He then left me for dead." When he eventually woke Lyndon managed to stagger to his daughter's flat and before he was taken to hospital. He said: "I had three seizures when I was there. The doctor said I was very lucky because if I had had them in the car before I got to hospital I wouldn't be here now." Lyndon, who has lived on the estate all his life and tends to the community garden, described Morris as a "psycho" and said he was worried about what could happen when he is free. He said: "He is a very dangerous man. He's not well and he needs locking up." Speaking after the sentence, Detective Constable Georgina Prince said: ?Ashley Morris who subjected his elderly neighbour to a brutal and sustained attack which was totally unprovoked. ?He left his victim for dead on the floor before returning to his flat, as though nothing had happened. There has never been any sense of remorse. ?He is a dangerous individual and belongs in prison where he can no longer be a threat to others. ?I would like to commend the victim in this case who showed immense bravery throughout his ordeal. I hope he can take some comfort from knowing that his attacker will spend a considerable time in prison." WALES NEWS SERVICE

Ashley Morris ultimately pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and was sentenced to 42 months in prison. The court acknowledged the severity of the attack and the danger Morris posed to the public.

Detective Constable Georgina Prince emphasized the callousness of the assault, noting Morris’s complete lack of remorse. She stated he had returned to his flat as if nothing had happened, leaving his victim for dead and confirming he was a dangerous individual who belonged behind bars.

Lyndon is now focused on recovery, grappling with the physical and emotional scars of the attack. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of the elderly and the devastating consequences of senseless violence.
