Former Big Brother contestant George Gilbert has publicly claimed he’s been barred from both the show’s finale and the subsequent reunion party, igniting a firestorm of controversy online.
Gilbert, whose time in the house was marked by contentious debates on sensitive topics like immigration, housing, and LGBTQ+ rights, alleges the ban stems from simply “asking a question.” His departure from the house followed a series of warnings issued by ITV regarding his remarks.
The catalyst for his removal was a discussion surrounding conspiracy theories and the Jewish community. Gilbert later explained he expressed a belief that antisemitism should be eradicated, but also admitted to understanding the skepticism surrounding alleged Jewish influence at higher levels of power, referencing historical figures who held similar views.
Following his eviction, Gilbert maintained his innocence, insisting he was punished for posing a legitimate inquiry. Now, he asserts this perceived injustice extends to being excluded from any further involvement with the show, even as a guest.
In a post on social media, Gilbert decried the decision as a “disproportionate response” intended to stifle dissenting opinions and control future contestants. He suggested a double standard exists, claiming those with left-leaning views are permitted to be “offensive” while those on the right are not.
Gilbert’s claims of a ban have yet to be officially confirmed by ITV, who previously stated his removal was due to “repeated use of unacceptable language and behaviour.” The network emphasized his actions violated program standards and warranted immediate expulsion.
The remaining housemates – Richard, Jenny, Cameron, Teja, Emily, Marcus, Elsa, and Tate – are now preparing for the live final, scheduled for Friday evening. The competition promises to crown a victor after nearly seven weeks of intense social experimentation.
The finale will be hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, marking the culmination of this season’s Big Brother journey. The event will determine which contestant will ultimately be voted the winner by the public.
