NETANYAHU DECLARES WAR ON PEACE: Palestine Erased Before UN Can Act!

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a stark declaration Sunday, firmly rejecting any future establishment of a Palestinian state. This resolute stance comes on the eve of a crucial United Nations Security Council vote concerning Gaza, a resolution that, unlike Netanyahu’s position, doesn’t entirely dismiss the possibility of Palestinian independence.

For years, Netanyahu has maintained that recognizing Palestinian statehood would inadvertently bolster Hamas, potentially leading to a larger, Hamas-controlled territory bordering Israel. Now, as the United States pushes for a ceasefire proposal in Gaza, he faces mounting international pressure to demonstrate a willingness to compromise.

The Security Council is poised to vote on a U.S.-led proposal authorizing a U.N.-mandated international force to stabilize Gaza, despite opposition from powerful nations like Russia and China, as well as several Arab countries. The resolution has undergone revisions, now including stronger language acknowledging a potential “credible pathway” to Palestinian statehood, referencing a previous plan.

A competing proposal from Russia takes an even more assertive stance, explicitly advocating for the creation of a Palestinian state. The international community largely views a two-state solution – a Palestinian state existing alongside Israel – as the most viable path toward a lasting resolution to the decades-long conflict.

Netanyahu’s governing coalition, comprised of hard-line factions, has urged him to maintain a firm opposition to Palestinian independence. Addressing his Cabinet, he asserted that Israel’s position remains unchanged, a conviction he has held for decades.

He dismissed external and internal pressures, stating he requires no “affirmations, tweets, or lectures” from any source. This defiance comes amidst increased scrutiny during the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where recent recognition of a Palestinian state by several nations was met with strong condemnation from Netanyahu.

Netanyahu emphasized that any progress hinges on the complete demilitarization of Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas, stating this outcome will be achieved “the easy way or the hard way.” The implications of this ultimatum remain deeply uncertain.

Alongside the debate over future statehood, a disturbing trend of escalating violence in the West Bank has come to the forefront. Netanyahu publicly addressed the surge in attacks by Jewish settlers, characterizing them as the actions of a small, extremist minority.

However, this assessment sharply contrasts with reports from Palestinians and human rights organizations, who describe widespread violence and accuse the government of inaction. Recent weeks have seen a tragic increase in Palestinian fatalities, with seven deaths attributed to Israeli military fire in the West Bank alone.

The military reported an incident in Nablus where a 19-year-old Palestinian was killed after allegedly throwing an explosive device at soldiers. Separately, six Palestinian teenagers, aged 15 to 17, have been killed in four separate incidents over the past two weeks.

While Netanyahu downplayed the settler violence, critics argue that it is carried out with impunity, emboldened by the presence of settler leaders and allies in key positions within his government, including those overseeing police and settlement policies.

Concerns are growing that the escalating violence in the West Bank could jeopardize efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. U.S. officials have expressed worry about the destabilizing effect of the unrest.

The United Nations has documented a dramatic increase in settler attacks, recording over 260 incidents against Palestinians and their property in October – the highest monthly figure since 2006. This surge underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive response to the escalating crisis.
