VIETNAM BUS BURIED ALIVE: 6 DEAD IN MOUNTAIN CATASTROPHE!

VIETNAM BUS BURIED ALIVE: 6 DEAD IN MOUNTAIN CATASTROPHE!

A sudden, devastating landslide swallowed a passenger bus whole on a remote mountain pass in Vietnam, leaving a trail of tragedy and desperate rescue efforts in its wake. Six lives were lost, and nineteen others were injured when the earth gave way late Sunday evening.

The Khanh Le pass, a 20-mile stretch renowned for its breathtaking beauty, proved to be a deadly trap. Carved into the steep slopes of the central highlands, it’s a route favored by tourists, but notoriously vulnerable during the relentless rainy season.

The landslide struck with brutal force, instantly crushing the front of the bus and trapping those inside. Rescuers faced an agonizing race against time, hampered by continued heavy rainfall that triggered further landslides, effectively sealing off access to the disaster site.

Landslides block the road on Khanh Le pass, near the location where a passenger bus was buried by a landslide in Khanh Hoa, Vietnam, Monday, Nov. 17, 2025.

The bus had been traveling from the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh City, carrying thirty-two passengers towards the coastal city of Nha Trang, with a stop in Da Lat. Hours passed before rescue teams could finally reach the wreckage, arriving only after midnight.

Injured passengers were rushed to the nearest hospital, while the grim task of recovering the deceased began. Even as rescue operations continued, two bodies remained trapped beneath the unstable debris, the treacherous terrain making their retrieval incredibly difficult.

Central Vietnam is currently battling torrential rainfall, still reeling from the recent impact of Typhoon Kalmaegi. Forecasts predict another 12 to 24 inches of rain through Wednesday, with some areas potentially facing over 33 inches – a terrifying prospect for a region already saturated.

The relentless downpour has already unleashed widespread flooding and landslides, particularly in the mountainous regions surrounding Hue city. A crucial north-south highway has been blocked, isolating several villages and disrupting vital transportation routes.

Hue, a former imperial capital, is no stranger to devastating floods, having endured historic levels of inundation earlier this year. This latest crisis underscores Vietnam’s extreme vulnerability to natural disasters, with nearly half of its population living in high-risk zones.

Scientists warn that a warming global climate is exacerbating these risks, intensifying storms and rainfall patterns across Southeast Asia. The increasing frequency and destructive power of floods and landslides are a stark warning of the challenges to come.
