Lady Colin Campbell, a familiar face to reality television audiences, is now engaged in a legal battle following a severe fall at a London hotel. The incident, occurring during a film screening, has left the 76-year-old hospitalized and facing a lengthy recovery.
The fall, which Campbell describes as a plunge into an “abyss,” resulted in serious injuries to her pelvis and hip. She alleges the hotel prioritized aesthetics over safety, creating a deceptively designed space with a sudden, unmarked drop in level.
Campbell recounts being invited to sit down, but maneuvering around another guest led her directly into danger. The room appeared to be on a single level, masking a significant difference in height that sent her tumbling downwards, estimating the fall to be between twelve and eighteen inches.
Currently recovering at King Edward VII’s Hospital, Campbell has been candid about her “excruciating” pain, requiring ongoing morphine treatment since the October 26th accident. She initially received care at St Thomas’ Hospital before transferring.
The screening event was for a new film by Amanda Eliasch, titled “The Truth Will Come Out,” which explores theories surrounding William Shakespeare. Campbell noted the area where she fell was poorly lit, with no staff present to warn of the hidden hazard.
Paramedics responding to the scene reportedly nearly suffered the same fate, reinforcing Campbell’s concerns about the dangerous design. She insists the hotel must address the issue to prevent future incidents.
Known for her outspoken personality during her 2015 appearance on “I’m A Celebrity,” where she didn’t hesitate to share her opinions of fellow contestants, Campbell has remained a prominent figure in the public eye.
Beyond reality television, she’s a published author, offering commentary on the royal family, including the bestselling biography “Meghan and Harry: The Real Story.” She intends to pursue legal action against the hotel, hoping for a swift resolution, but prepared to fight for justice if necessary.
Campbell’s recovery is expected to take six months, during which she will work to regain her ability to walk. She continues to share updates from her hospital bed, offering a glimpse into her experience and determination to overcome this challenge.
