A quiet afternoon near a Burlington grocery store shattered on October 29th when a vehicle was struck by gunfire. The victim, driving with three passengers, found themselves caught in a sudden, violent act as they travelled along the rear driveway of a Food Basics.
Police reports indicate the vehicle passed three masked individuals lurking behind the store. A single, deafening gunshot erupted, instantly shattering the passenger-side window and sending shards of glass flying.
Investigators quickly determined this wasn't a random act of violence, but a deliberate, targeted shooting. The masked figures fled the scene in a waiting vehicle, disappearing as quickly as they appeared.
Fortunately, the victim sustained only minor facial injuries and is expected to fully recover. The three passengers in the car were unharmed, spared from physical injury but undoubtedly shaken by the ordeal.
The Halton Regional Police Major Crime Bureau launched a full investigation, meticulously piecing together the events of that afternoon. Their efforts led to the execution of search warrants at four locations across Burlington.
The investigation culminated in the arrest of four individuals, and the recovery of the firearm believed to be used in the shooting. The search for answers, and justice, was gaining momentum.
Ozan Dickson, 20, of Burlington, now faces the most serious charges, including attempted murder. He is also accused of multiple firearm-related offenses.
Ahmed Abrahimzada, 19, of Burlington, shares similar charges, facing accusations of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. The weight of the allegations is substantial.
Shehabeldin Adam, 18, of Burlington, is also charged with attempted murder, alongside accusations of discharging a firearm with intent – a charge that speaks to the deliberate nature of the act.
A 16-year-old boy from Burlington, whose identity is protected by law, is also implicated, facing attempted murder and firearm charges. His involvement adds another layer of complexity to the case.
All four accused are currently in custody, awaiting bail hearings in Milton. The investigation, however, is far from over, with police continuing to gather evidence and explore all possible angles.
