But a significant shift is on the horizon, changing the landscape of this popular card starting in February 2026.

Currently, new Venture X applicants can earn a substantial 100,000 miles after spending $10,000 within the first six months – a reward valued at $1,850. Beyond the welcome bonus, cardholders earn 10 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, 5 miles per dollar on flights and vacation rentals through the same portal, and 2 miles per dollar on all other purchases.
The $395 annual fee is remarkably offset by a $300 Capital One Travel credit, effectively reducing the net cost. Adding to this, a 10,000-mile anniversary bonus, valued at $185, further sweetens the deal. These benefits alone cover the annual fee, making the Venture X a compelling value proposition.

The ability to add up to four authorized users at no additional cost (currently) is a significant advantage.

Until February 2026, authorized users enjoy the same lounge privileges as the primary cardholder, allowing them to bring their own guests. This benefit will disappear with the new policy, making the current period a prime time to maximize authorized user benefits.

It’s important to note that authorized users do not receive their own $300 annual credit or Global Entry/TSA PreCheck fee credit. However, their spending still contributes towards earning the welcome bonus and accumulating Capital One miles at the standard rates.
