Suspect sought for unprovoked Mississauga stabbing; Kitchener fire under investigation

A Christmas Eve walk turned terrifying for one man in Mississauga. He was ambushed and stabbed after an encounter with a stranger, leaving investigators urgently seeking the public’s help to identify the attacker.

The incident unfolded around 7:20 p.m. near the intersection of Church and Queen Streets. The victim, enjoying a peaceful stroll along a trail, was suddenly confronted by a man who demanded his belongings.

Even after complying with the demand, the victim was brutally attacked, stabbed multiple times by the suspect. The assailant then fled the scene, disappearing into the night.

Without the ability to call for help – no phone was available – the injured man bravely drove himself to a nearby paramedic station. He was immediately transported to a local trauma centre, thankfully with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.

Police describe the suspect as a white male in his 30s, last seen wearing a green or blue jacket. The search is ongoing, and authorities are relying on witnesses to come forward with any information.

Meanwhile, in Kitchener, a different kind of emergency unfolded in the early hours of Christmas Day. A detached garage was completely consumed by flames shortly after midnight.

Emergency services responded to Dumfries Avenue, battling the blaze until it was extinguished. Fortunately, the main residence was unoccupied, and no one was injured in the fire.

The damage was contained to the garage, but the cause of the fire remains a mystery. Investigators are currently working to determine how the fire started.

Anyone with information regarding either the Mississauga stabbing or the Kitchener fire is urged to contact the respective police services. Even seemingly small details could prove crucial to the investigations.
