AMERICA UNDER ATTACK: New Plate Sparks Patriot War!

As the nation looks toward its 250th anniversary, Georgia is marking the occasion with new license plates – and one design has sparked particular conversation. Beyond a commemorative plate celebrating America 250, the state now offers a plate emblazoned with the phrase “America First.”

The “America First” plate originated with state Senator Steve Gooch, who introduced it as Senate Bill 291. Signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp earlier this year, the plate features a striking American flag backdrop with the slogan prominently displayed. It comes with a $90 price tag.

Senator Gooch described the plate as a powerful symbol of patriotism, a way for citizens to visibly prioritize the needs of the country. He emphasized its connection to core values like economic strength, national security, and the safeguarding of citizen’s rights.

The plate’s introduction wasn’t solely focused on broad national ideals. Gooch openly acknowledged it as a means for Georgians to demonstrate their support for a specific political movement and its figurehead.

Alongside the “America First” option, Georgia also presents a USA Semiquincentennial plate, a more broadly celebratory design costing $20. Revenue Commissioner Frank O’Connell highlighted this plate as a tribute to the nation’s origins and Georgia’s significant role in the Revolutionary War.

The design of the America 250 plate wasn’t crafted by professional artists, but by Georgia’s own middle school students. It emerged from a statewide civics education initiative, adding a layer of youthful perspective to the commemoration.

The plate’s red stars aren’t merely decorative; they pinpoint locations of crucial battles fought during the Revolutionary War within Georgia. From Van’s Creek to the naval action at Frederica, each star marks a site where the state played a vital role in securing independence.

Georgia isn’t alone in issuing commemorative plates for the upcoming anniversary. Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Virginia have also launched similar initiatives. The response in some states has been immediate and enthusiastic.

Michigan, for example, sold nearly 1,000 of its commemorative plates within the first hour of their release, demonstrating a strong public desire to participate in the anniversary celebrations. The demand underscored the widespread anticipation for America’s 250th birthday.
