STAR WARS LEGO IS WATCHING YOU.

STAR WARS LEGO IS WATCHING YOU.

For decades, Lego has sparked imagination with its simple, interlocking bricks. But now, prepare for a revolution. Lego is injecting a new level of life into play, blending the tactile joy of building with dynamic sound and light effects – and it’s starting with a galaxy far, far away.

This isn’t just a minor tweak; Lego is calling it the biggest leap forward since the introduction of the minifigure in 1978. Imagine constructing a spaceship and hearing the authentic roar of engines as you tilt it through the air, or lights flashing as you simulate a daring laser attack. This is the promise of ‘Smart Play’.

The core of this innovation lies within a custom-designed computer chip, astonishingly small – smaller than a single Lego stud. This allows a new ‘Smart Brick’ to function seamlessly alongside existing Lego elements, opening up a universe of possibilities for builders of all ages.

The system revolves around three key components: the Smart Brick itself, ‘Smart Tags’ that trigger actions, and interactive ‘Smart Minifigures.’ These minifigures, while visually identical to their classic counterparts, house hidden speakers ready to bring your creations to life.

First unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show, the initial wave of Smart Play sets focuses on the iconic Star Wars universe. But this is just the beginning. The potential extends to any Lego theme imaginable – from roaring dinosaurs to bustling cityscapes, the possibilities are limitless.

Launching on March 1st, the initial lineup includes three sets designed to immerse you in the Star Wars saga. Luke Skywalker’s Red Five X-Wing, priced at £79.99, comes complete with Smart versions of Luke and Princess Leia, alongside familiar faces like R2-D2.

For £59.99, you can command the dark side with Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter. This set features a Smart Darth Vader minifigure and allows you to build a Rebel outpost and Imperial refuelling station, bringing the galactic conflict to your living room.

The most ambitious set, the Throne Room Duel & A-Wing at £139.99, recreates the climactic confrontation from *Return of the Jedi*. Smart minifigures of Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, and Luke Skywalker in his Jedi attire react to the play, with lightsaber hums and the ominous strains of The Imperial March.

But the true magic lies in the freedom to customize. The Smart Brick isn’t limited to pre-designed builds. Imagine transforming a simple car into a TIE Fighter, complete with authentic engine sounds, or a dragon that breathes laser fire. Your imagination is the only limit.

The Smart Play system isn’t about replacing traditional Lego building; it’s about enhancing it. It’s about adding another layer of immersion and interactivity, transforming static creations into dynamic, responsive worlds. It’s a bold new chapter in the enduring legacy of Lego.
