TRUMP'S GAZA GAMBIT: Putin & Lukashenko IN – World on the Brink?

TRUMP'S GAZA GAMBIT: Putin & Lukashenko IN – World on the Brink?

A surprising diplomatic overture has unfolded, as both Russia and Belarus confirmed receiving invitations to join a newly proposed “Board of Peace” for Gaza. The invitations, extended by the former administration, signal a dramatic shift in potential international involvement in the region’s future.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed that President Putin is currently evaluating the offer, received through diplomatic channels. He indicated a desire for further clarification from the United States regarding the specifics of the proposal, suggesting a cautious yet interested approach from Moscow.

Belarus’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs also acknowledged the invitation, stating that President Lukashenko received a direct letter from the former president proposing the country’s role as a founding member. While expressing readiness to participate, the ministry hinted at a desire for a broader scope and authority for the board beyond its initial mandate.

The invitations weren’t limited to these two nations. Argentina, Jordan, Canada, India, Egypt, Hungary, and Vietnam also reportedly received similar requests from the White House, painting a picture of a sweeping attempt to assemble a diverse international body.

The proposed “Board of Peace” is envisioned as a central component of a broader Gaza peace plan, tasked with overseeing governance, reconstruction, and long-term development. The former administration outlined its intention for the board to provide strategic oversight and mobilize resources during Gaza’s transition.

The board’s leadership would be headed by the former president himself, alongside a team of prominent figures including Jared Kushner, Marco Rubio, Steve Witkoff, and Marc Rowan. This group is intended to guide the implementation of a 20-point plan for the region.

Details emerging from a draft charter suggest a significant financial commitment for countries seeking a permanent seat on the board – a reported fee of $1 billion. This requirement raises questions about accessibility and the potential influence of financial contributions.

The formation of a separate “Gaza Executive Board,” featuring appointments like Turkey’s Foreign Minister and a Qatari diplomat, has already sparked friction. Israel’s Prime Minister’s office stated this parallel board was created without coordination and contradicts existing Israeli policy.

The unfolding situation presents a complex web of international interests and potential challenges. The success of any peace initiative will depend on navigating these complexities and fostering genuine collaboration among all stakeholders.
