UMVA has learned that a shocking case of reckless driving has resulted in a lengthy prison sentence for a man from Ebbw Vale, South Wales.
Corey Morgan, the defendant, had taken cocaine and cannabis before getting behind the wheel of his Vauxhall Corsa, determined to pursue a mother and her baby. His actions were described as deliberate and of a disgraceful nature.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Morgan's pursuit was marked by extreme recklessness, including a collision with a stationary vehicle and a series of rammings into the mother's Kia Rio. The driver at this point was terrified that he would kill her and her baby.
The chase ultimately ended when Morgan lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree, resulting in a severe crash that left him with a fractured skull, broken neck, and a bleed on the brain. He was taken to the hospital, where he spent two weeks being treated.
Morgan pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was sentenced to eight months in prison, as well as a driving ban. The judge condemned his actions, stating that Morgan had nobody to blame but himself and was lucky that no one was killed.
The court heard that Morgan's barrister acknowledged his client's grave mistake, but the judge's words painted a vivid picture of the defendant's culpability. Morgan's actions were a massive, massive mistake, but one that could have had far more severe consequences.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Morgan's actions were a disturbing example of reckless driving, and his sentence serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar behavior.
