Pixel Watch SCANDAL: Is It Stealing Your Fitness Gains?!

Pixel Watch SCANDAL: Is It Stealing Your Fitness Gains?!

A growing number of Pixel Watch owners are discovering a frustrating discrepancy: their step and calorie counts are wildly inaccurate. Reports began surfacing shortly after the March feature drop, leaving users questioning the data their watches provide.

The problem isn't a minor glitch; it's a significant overestimation. Users are reporting numbers that simply don't align with their activity levels. One individual described their watch adding hundreds of steps with only a short walk to the bathroom.

Calorie counts are equally suspect, with some users claiming their watches report burning an impossible number of calories for a typical day. One Redditor noted a figure exceeding 11,000 calories despite a sedentary workday – a clear indication something is amiss.

Interestingly, the issue appears to extend beyond those who’ve installed the latest feature update. Some users with watches that haven’t received the update are experiencing the same inflated readings, suggesting the root cause may lie elsewhere.

While an official solution from Google is still pending, the Pixel Watch community has been actively troubleshooting. Several users have found temporary workarounds to restore accuracy.

A common first step is clearing the cache for the Fitbit app on your phone. Navigate to Settings, then Apps, select Fitbit, and choose "Clear cache." This simple action has resolved the issue for some.

The process should also be repeated on the watch itself. Access Settings, then Apps & Notifications, find Fitbit, and again, select "Clear cache." This ensures both devices are starting fresh.

Finally, a complete restart of both your Pixel Watch and your phone is recommended. Holding the crown on the watch will bring up a menu with a "Restart" option. A full system refresh can often resolve underlying software conflicts.

Many users have found success by combining all three steps – clearing the cache on both devices and restarting both. While not a permanent fix, these measures offer a potential path to more reliable activity tracking.
