IRAN COVER-UP: Regime Lies About Massacre!

IRAN COVER-UP: Regime Lies About Massacre!

A chilling silence has descended over Iran, broken only by the government’s carefully curated narrative. After weeks of nationwide protests, authorities have finally released a death toll – a figure of 3,117 – dramatically lower than estimates from human rights groups who place the number above 4,900 and fear it continues to climb.

This discrepancy speaks volumes. For decades, the Iranian government has been accused of minimizing or outright concealing casualties during periods of unrest. The current situation echoes the tumultuous days surrounding the 1979 Islamic Revolution, a period of widespread chaos and bloodshed.

The U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency, with a proven track record of accurate reporting from within Iran, paints a far grimmer picture. Their network of activists on the ground suggests the true cost of the crackdown is significantly higher, with thousands more potentially lost in the shadows of a government-imposed information blackout.

This photograph taken during a tour for foreign media shows media representatives walking past the parked buses that were burnt at a depot during recent public protests, in Tehran on Jan. 21, 2026.

Access to information has become a weapon. Authorities have severed internet access and restricted international communication, effectively silencing the voices of dissent and hindering independent verification of events. State television relentlessly portrays protesters as “rioters” instigated by foreign powers – the United States and Israel – without offering any concrete evidence.

Adding fuel to the already volatile situation, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stark warning to the United States. In a published opinion piece, he threatened a full-scale response, stating Iran will “fire back with everything we have” if attacked, a veiled reference to its substantial missile arsenal.

This threat arrived as Araghchi’s invitation to the World Economic Forum in Davos was rescinded, and as a U.S. aircraft carrier strike group, led by the USS Abraham Lincoln, rapidly moved toward the Middle East from Asia. The deployment of fighter jets and advanced missile systems further underscores the escalating tensions.

The scale of the crackdown is unprecedented in recent Iranian history. Nearly 26,500 people have been arrested, raising fears of mass executions. Iran has a notorious record as one of the world’s leading executioners, and concerns are mounting that many of those detained will face the ultimate penalty.

Araghchi’s article attempted to downplay the unrest, claiming the “violent phase” lasted less than 72 hours. However, videos smuggled out of Iran, despite the internet shutdown, reveal a disturbing pattern of security forces using live ammunition against unarmed civilians – a detail conspicuously absent from the foreign minister’s account.

The situation is further complicated by reports of a recent Iranian attack on a base belonging to the National Army of Kurdistan in Iraq. This marks the first known foreign operation launched by Tehran since the protests began, signaling a potential expansion of the conflict beyond Iran’s borders.

For years, Iranian Kurdish dissident groups have found refuge in northern Iraq, creating a persistent source of friction between Tehran and Baghdad. These groups have claimed responsibility for attacks within Iran, further escalating the cycle of violence and retribution.

As the world watches, the true extent of the tragedy unfolding in Iran remains shrouded in secrecy. The government’s attempts to control the narrative are met with growing skepticism, and the threat of further escalation looms large over the region.
