A rising star in progressive politics, Representative Jasmine Crockett, currently vying for a U.S. Senate seat in Texas, spent over $120,000 during 2025 on a lifestyle of luxury, according to federal filings. The expenditures raise questions about the priorities of a candidate who frequently frames her political positions as a champion of the people.
The financial disclosures reveal a pattern of spending on high-end accommodations, transportation, and personal security. Over $32,000 was allocated solely to luxury hotels, with a significant portion – nearly $12,000 – spent in the final quarter of 2025 as her Senate campaign gained momentum.
Crockett’s campaigns favored exclusive establishments, including the Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Hotel Zaza, Kimpton, and the five-star Los Angeles West Hollywood Edition. These choices stand in stark contrast to her public rhetoric criticizing wealth and advocating for economic justice.
Beyond lodging, over $11,700 was spent on limousine and luxury car services throughout the year. Bay Area Lux Limos and Detailed Drivers, a “white-glove” transportation service, were among the beneficiaries of these expenditures.
The most substantial expense, however, was for private security, totaling nearly $80,000 for 2025. This figure is particularly noteworthy given Crockett’s past support for “defunding the police” and reallocating resources to community-based programs.
In 2021, while a member of the Texas House of Representatives, Crockett described the “defund” movement as a means of “finally being smart on crime” and investing in communities to address the root causes of criminal activity. The substantial investment in personal security appears to contradict this earlier stance.
Since entering Congress in 2023, Crockett has become a prominent voice within the Democratic party, known for her sharp criticism of Donald Trump and other Republicans. She has faced controversy for inflammatory remarks, including calls for action against Elon Musk and comments regarding Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
During her Senate campaign, Crockett has positioned herself as a fearless opponent of Trump, claiming to be the only candidate who has “gone toe-to-toe” with him. She has repeatedly called for his impeachment and made comparisons between his policies and historical atrocities.
Crockett has also been a vocal critic of the Supreme Court and Department of Homeland Security, co-sponsoring articles of impeachment against Secretary Kristi Noem, accusing her of “state-sanctioned violence” and abuses of power. Her rhetoric consistently portrays her as a staunch defender of civil rights and constitutional principles.
The Texas U.S. Senate primary election is scheduled for March 3rd. The winner will advance to challenge incumbent Senator John Cornyn, Attorney General Ken Paxton, or Representative Wesley Hunt in the November general election. The outcome will significantly shape the political landscape of Texas.
