The Grand Canyon holds secrets, but one mystery is tearing a family apart. A brilliant computer science student vanished without a trace near the South Rim.
Twenty-year-old Krishna disappeared somewhere along Hermit Road, a stunning stretch of canyon-edge trail that draws thousands of visitors each year. The last glimpse anyone had of him came on a Sunday afternoon.
He was wearing athletic clothing—a young man built lean, five feet ten inches tall, dark-haired and brown-eyed, carrying nothing but a black backpack. That backpack later showed up at the Bright Angel Lodge, handed over to hotel staff early on April 28.
Now rangers are racing to find the person who turned it in. They believe that individual holds a crucial piece of the puzzle—not as a suspect, but as someone who might narrow the search zone.
Krishna had only been in Arizona since 2024, chasing a master’s degree in computer science at Arizona State University. His graduation was set for May 9—just days away when he vanished.
His family describes him as bright, kind, deeply connected to home. "It’s impossible not to like him," a loved one said. "He has a helping hand… he has the heart of a kid."
The search intensifies along the rim and its surrounding trails. Anyone who saw Krishna between April 27 and April 28—or knows anything about his movements—holds a key that could unlock this haunting disappearance.
