A young man, known for his aggressive drill music and a string of serious crimes, has once again vanished from custody. Daniel Boakye, who performs as Dsavv, escaped from a London hospital while under police guard, triggering a renewed manhunt.
His escape isn’t a secret; Boakye himself seems to be flaunting his freedom. A recently released video shows him rapping with an article about his escape visible on a television screen in the background. The lyrics are defiant, boasting of breaking free and dismissing authorities as “phoneys.”
The brazenness of the act has drawn a mixed reaction. While law enforcement is undoubtedly frustrated, some within the UK rap scene have offered a backhanded acknowledgement, suggesting his notoriety stems more from his escapes than his musical talent.
Boakye’s lyrics are often graphic, detailing violent acts and a disregard for the law. He’s previously rapped about knife crimes with chilling specificity, painting a picture of a life lived on the edge of legality. This persona has garnered him a following, even inspiring calls for his release while he was previously incarcerated.
His criminal history extends beyond lyrical boasts. Between 2021 and 2022, Boakye and three others were involved in a series of armed robberies across London and Essex. They targeted individuals, threatening them with knives to steal mobile phones and access to cryptocurrency.
The gang’s operation was sophisticated, transferring stolen cryptocurrency to untraceable “hot wallets” and using stolen bank details for purchases and fraudulent transactions. They amassed over £115,000 through these crimes, seemingly operating with a degree of confidence.
Ironically, it was their everyday habits that ultimately led to their downfall. Detectives traced their home addresses through takeaway orders paid for with stolen credit card information, a detail that highlights the unexpected vulnerabilities in even carefully planned criminal enterprises.
Police are actively searching for Boakye, describing him as a young Black man of medium height and slim build. He was last seen wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark Nike jacket. The circumstances surrounding his escape from the hospital are under review, with an internal investigation underway to determine how he managed to flee.
Boakye’s connections to the London gang OFB – Original Farm Boys – are well-known, adding another layer to the complexity of the case. His repeated escapes and defiant public statements raise questions about the effectiveness of current security measures and the allure of notoriety in the world of drill music.
