The comments made by several prominent Democrats on a virtual event hosted by Progressive Victory in March have sparked controversy over comparisons of America to a Nazi regime and accusations of terrorism against the U.S. and Israel.
According to attendees, Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., who has been floated as a possible presidential contender, was present on the call, but a spokesperson for the congressman claims he was not on the call at the time the remarks were made.
The event, titled "Choose Your Fighter," was meant to highlight progressive politicians opposing the ongoing conflict in Iran and featured left-wing podcaster Kyle Kulinski, who compared the U.S. and Israel to the Nazi regime and accused them of "creating the fourth Reich."
Kulinski further claimed that the U.S. is "governed by dead-eye psychopaths and sociopaths and bloodthirsty imperialists" and that the U.S. government and the Israeli government are "the terrorists … they are doing terrorism."
A spokesperson for Canary Mission, an antisemitism watchdog, warned that Kulinski's rhetoric evidences the growth of self-hatred for the U.S. on the part of the left and that support for terrorist regimes and historical revisionism has no place in American politics.
Benjamin Gilbert-Lif, deputy executive director of Progressive Victory, told Fox News Digital that the organization stands by Kulinski's comments, which they claim reflect the views of their community.
A spokesperson for Rep. Ro Khanna stated that the congressman "joined for 5 minutes to speak and left" and added that he "obviously disagrees with them," despite being present on the call.
The controversy has sparked a discussion over the views of progressive politicians and their stance on national security and terrorism.
Oliver Larkin, a progressive Democrat running for Congress in Florida, told Fox News Digital that the virtual event raised $40,000 for "progressive anti-war candidates" nationwide and accused the Trump administration of "rather than enforcing U.S. and international law … continuing to fund an ongoing genocide."
