EVIL LOCKED UP: 25 Years for Monster Who Stole a 9-Year-Old's Life!

EVIL LOCKED UP: 25 Years for Monster Who Stole a 9-Year-Old's Life!

The afternoon sun cast long shadows on Fountain Lane, a quiet street in Boston, Lincolnshire. Nine-year-old Lilia Valutyte, full of youthful energy, played with her hula hoop just yards from where her mother worked. It was a scene of ordinary joy, a typical summer day – moments before everything irrevocably changed.

CCTV footage captured those final, precious minutes. Lilia, carefree and laughing, twirled the colorful plastic hoop. The street was largely empty, a peaceful backdrop to a child’s innocent game. Unseen, a figure watched, waiting for the opportune moment, a darkness gathering on the edge of this idyllic scene.

Deividas Skebas, 26, approached Lilia as she played. Witnesses described a sudden, swift movement. He drew a knife, a chilling act of violence erupting in the quiet street. The blade plunged into Lilia’s chest with brutal force, knocking her backwards towards the shop shutters.

The mother of the nine-year old alleged murder victim has paid tribute to her daughter saying: "We had four corners and now one is gone." In a statement issued through Lincolnshire Police, the mother of schoolgirl Lilia Valutyte, Lina, announced plans to create a statue of her daughter as a "way for her to still be there". Her mother, Lina Savickiene, heard a desperate cry for help. Rushing to her daughter’s side, she found Lilia lying in the street, covered in blood, the hula hoop still nearby. A mother’s worst nightmare unfolded in those agonizing moments, a desperate attempt to stem the flow of life as her child slipped away.

“She was getting pale,” Savickiene recounted, her voice heavy with grief. “She collapsed in my hands. I saw the wounds, started to cover them. I just got scared, started to shout for somebody to help me.” Lilia was pronounced dead within the hour, a vibrant life extinguished in an instant.

Skebas had purchased the weapon – a Sabatier paring knife – just two days prior. Following the attack, he attempted to conceal the evidence, hiding the knife behind a radiator. He then desperately tried to flee the country, boarding a bus bound for Lithuania, but was apprehended on July 30th.

Lilia was attacked by Deividas in the town centre of Boston, Lincolnshire, on July 28 2022, while she was playing outside her mother's embroidery shop. Issue date: Thursday February 5, 2026. During his arrest and subsequent detention, Skebas’s behavior became increasingly erratic. He spoke of external control, claiming he was influenced by NASA and a microchip implanted within him. His mental state deteriorated, leading to his transfer to a hospital for evaluation.

The defense argued that Skebas was suffering from severe delusions, gripped by schizophrenia and psychosis. Clinicians confirmed a bleak prognosis, suggesting little hope for his recovery. Despite claiming diminished responsibility, Skebas was ultimately convicted of Lilia’s murder.

The courtroom fell silent as the sentence was delivered: life imprisonment with a minimum term of 25 years. A small measure of justice for a devastating loss, but a sentence that could never truly mend the broken hearts left behind. Lilia Valutyte’s memory remains, a poignant reminder of innocence stolen and a community forever scarred.

Deividas Skebas was unanimously determined to have physically committed the act of killing Lilia by a jury following a two-day trial of the facts at Lincoln Crown Court. The 23-year-old had been deemed unfit to plead or face a conventional trial due to his mental health earlier this year, and did not attend the hearing or play any part in proceedings.
