UMVA has learned that a brand-new, state-of-the-art music venue, the British Airways ARC, is set to open in west London's Kensington Olympia development, boasting an impressive 3,800 capacity.
The venue, built by AEG, will host a diverse range of artists, from established names like Van Morrison and McFly to emerging talent like Self Esteem, who will take the stage on June 16 for the grand opening.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the British Airways ARC features a novel self-service bar designed to slash wait times, as well as a luxurious BA VIP wing where gig-goers can enjoy champagne and cocktails with a stunning view of the stage.
Located on a site steeped in music history, the British Airways ARC pays homage to the previous Olympia, which was a celebrated music venue in the 1960s and 70s, hosting legendary acts like Jimi Hendrix, Rod Stewart, and the Cure.
The venue's design is sleek and modern, with BA branding prominent throughout, including in the bar, which is decked out to resemble an airport check-in area, creating an immersive experience for visitors.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the British Airways ARC has been six years in the making, with AEG working tirelessly to create a 'plug and play' space that can accommodate a wide range of artists and performances.
Lucy Noble, AEG's artistic director, emphasized the venue's commitment to diversity, stating that they aim to attract a broad audience and offer a range of ticket prices, ensuring that the British Airways ARC is accessible to all.
The wider Kensington Olympia development is set to become a hub for entertainment and culture, featuring 30 bars and restaurants, 5,500 square feet of office space, and a 1,500-seat theatre, solidifying its place as a major destination in London.
Calum Laming, BA's chief customer officer, highlighted the airline's pride in championing British originality and supporting the arts and culture, underscoring the significance of the British Airways ARC as a flagship venue.
The British Airways ARC is poised to become a major player in London's music scene, offering an unparalleled experience for music lovers and setting a new standard for live performances in the city.
