A Metropolitan Police detective stood before Westminster Magistrates Court today, facing a serious accusation that has shaken the force. Detective Sergeant Kenneth Dunn, 49, vehemently denied the charge of sexually assaulting a colleague.
The alleged incident occurred last October at a bar in Camden, north London, while Dunn was off duty. The prosecution detailed the accusation, stating that Dunn allegedly placed his hand on the woman’s waist and then moved it under her shirt.
Dunn, who serves in the Central North Command unit, chose to have his case heard at Crown Court, opting for a jury trial to determine the facts. The courtroom was silent as the details of the allegation were presented.
Following the hearing, Dunn was released on bail, but has been suspended from his duties pending the outcome of the case. He resides in Wickford, Essex, and awaits the next stage of legal proceedings.
The case has been adjourned and is now scheduled for a hearing at Wood Green Crown Court on April 13th. The outcome will undoubtedly be closely watched within the Metropolitan Police and beyond.
