The tension is palpable. The Champions League final is set, and Harry Kane has just dropped his verdict: Paris Saint-Germain are the "slight favourites" over Arsenal. But don't expect a walkover. Kane insists this showdown in Budapest will be anything but one-sided.
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal punched their ticket with a gritty 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid at home. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich needed a miracle after trailing 5-4 from the first leg against PSG. But when they went a goal down just three minutes into the second leg, hope flickered. It took until the fourth minute of injury time for Kane to finally equalize—too little, too late.
PSG advanced 6-5 on aggregate. Now they chase a second Champions League crown in club history. Arsenal, on the other hand, are back in the final for the first time since that painful loss to Barcelona in 2006.
Speaking right after Bayern's elimination, Kane didn't hold back. "I think it's really even," he said. "Two totally different teams in the way they play, but two very strong teams. It will be an interesting final, for sure."
He added: "PSG being the reigning champions obviously hold the right to maybe be slight favourites. But overall, I think it will be two top teams going at it. It'll be an even match."
PSG boss Luis Enrique also weighed in, giving Arsenal full respect. "They did it great," he said. "They deserved to get to the final. They have been performing the whole season at a high level, unbelievable during the whole season."
But he made one thing clear: "It's a final. They want to win it—I think it would be their first. We want to continue making history in Paris, and to make history we need to win the second one in a row."
