A young woman faces legal repercussions following an incident near the Indonesian embassy in London. Tia Billinger, known online as Bonnie Blue, has been formally charged with outraging public decency.
The accusation stems from an alleged act performed on December 15th of last year, captured on video on Great Peter Street. Reports indicate Billinger, 26, displayed a lewd gesture while holding the flag of Indonesia near the embassy’s official residence.
This isn’t Billinger’s first encounter with legal trouble in the region. She was previously deported from Indonesia after being accused of violating the country’s strict anti-pornography laws, though those charges were ultimately dropped.
London’s Metropolitan Police confirmed the charge, stating Billinger, of Draycott in Derbyshire, was informed via postal requisition on March 16th. She is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on April 22nd.
The investigation involved a cautious interview with the woman in her twenties on February 2nd, followed by a referral to the Crown Prosecution Service. The CPS authorized the charge after careful review.
A conviction for outraging public decency carries significant penalties, potentially including up to six months imprisonment and an unlimited fine. The court will determine the appropriate consequences should Billinger be found guilty.
