Trump Criticizes Senate Republicans and John Thune for Failing to Remove Parliamentarian and Pass SAVE America Act After Supreme Court Ruling on Mail-In Ballots

President Trump expressed strong reactions to a recent Supreme Court decision and criticized Senate leaders for their handling of election-related legislation. The Court ruled that federal law does not require mail-in ballots to be received by Election Day, a decision the president described as “a little bit surprising” and “very detrimental to honest elections.”

Trump focused his ire on Senate Majority Leader John Thune and other lawmakers for failing to advance the SAVE America Act. “The House of Representatives has approved this vital Act, THREE TIMES. The United States Senate seems unable to do so,” he wrote. He also criticized five Senate Republicans for obstructing the bill, naming Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, Thom Tillis, Bill Cassidy, and Mitch McConnell.

During an executive order signing event, the president reiterated the importance of the legislation. “In a time when there is a powerful Communist Movement taking place in our Country, one more dangerous than World War I, World War II, Pearl Harbor, or September 11th, all Dumocrats, and our five Republican Senate Hold Outs must vote to SAVE OUR COUNTRY,” he stated.

Trump further demanded Thune replace the Senate Parliamentarian, Elizabeth MacDonough, whom he accused of favoring Democratic priorities. “I can’t imagine why you keep a woman that was put there by Harry Reid and Barack Hussein Obama,” he said. “A leader has the right to fire the person at will and put somebody else there.” He labeled MacDonough a “Radical Left Lunatic” for ruling against a key provision of the SAVE America Act earlier this month.

Thune, however, dismissed Trump’s demands. “That’s, I guess, his opinion. But that would create even more vote issues here if we were to try and do something like that,” he told reporters. The president responded by accusing Thune of incompetence, stating, “I think it’s not even believable that she’s still there.”

Trump’s comments reflect ongoing tensions over election procedures and Senate leadership. He previously criticized MacDonough for blocking the Save Act from a reconciliation bill, calling her rulings “negative” and inconsistent with Republican goals. The dispute underscores broader conflicts between the White House and Senate Republicans on legislative priorities.
