A chilling scene unfolded at a Columbia, Maryland gas station last Friday, captured in stark detail by surveillance cameras. The footage, now released by the Howard County Police Department, depicts a woman calmly brandishing a firearm inside the Shell station on Cradlerock Way.
The silent video reveals the suspect engaging with the gas station employee before suddenly raising the weapon and firing. Investigators believe the shooting was the culmination of a failed robbery attempt, a moment of terrifying violence erupting in an everyday location.
Police responded to the scene at approximately 7:43 p.m. on April 17th, finding a male employee suffering from serious injuries. He was immediately transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for emergency medical attention.
Detectives determined that a single suspect discharged the firearm and then fled the gas station, leaving the victim fighting for his life. Thankfully, no other individuals were harmed during the harrowing incident.
As of Monday, the victim remained hospitalized in serious condition. Authorities are actively seeking the suspect and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The Howard County Police Department is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest and conviction, increasing a previous reward of $1,000. The investigation is ongoing as detectives piece together the events of that night.
